 Dental Implant Informations

 What are dental Implants?

The procedure begins with the implant being placed in the jawbone. Once it is placed, it will be covered and
allowed to heal. Healing time can vary based on the individual and the type of implant used. Once the implant
has sufficiently healed the procedure will be complated with the addition of an abutment, upon which the crown
or other permanent restoration will be placed.

The implant should be brushed and flossed carefully along with your other teeth for best results.

Dental implants are made of pure titanium. Titanium is a metal that presents low weight, high strength/weight
ratio, low modulus of elasticity, excellent corrosion resistance, excellent biocompatibility and easyshaping finishing.

 Sinus Lifting

Sinus Lifting is a surgical procedure which aims to increase the amount of bone in the posterior maxilla (upper jawbone), in the area of premolar and molar teeth, by sacrificing some of the volume of the maxillary sinus.

When a natural tooth is lost, whether though dental decay, periodontal disease or dental trauma, the alveolar process begins remodel. The toothless area is termed a ridge, which over time usually loses both height and width. Furthermare, the level of the floor of the maxillary sinus gradually becomes lower.

Overall, this leads to a loss of volume of bone which is available for implantation of dental implants, which rely on osseointegration. The goal of the sinus lift is graft extra bone into the maxillary sinus, so more bone is available to support a dental implant.

Sinus augmentation is ''technique sensitive'' and should be performed by a periodontist.

Autogenous grafts placed into the sinus and allowed to heal for 6 months, which was followed by the placement of blade implants.

Root Canal Treatment

What is a Root Canal?

Root canal treatment is the removal of the tooth's pulp, a small, thread-like tissue in the center of the tooth.Once the damaged, diseased or dead pulp is removed, the remaining space is cleaned, shaped and filled.

The most common causes of pulp damage or death are a cracked tooth, deep cavity or an injury to a tooth, such as a severe knock to the tooth, either recent or in the past.

Once the pulp is infected or dead, if left untreated, pus can build up at the root tip in the jawbone, forming
an abscess. An abscess can destroy the bone surrounding the tooth and cause pain. Treatment is essential.
